Day 5 & 6 - 18/19th May 25
Days 5 & 6 Combined
I decided to combine these 2 days because not a lot happened fishing-wise.
Day 5 Venue 1: Nieuwleusen Lake

I arrived around 7:30am and spent a while testing the depth/contour at various pegs before baiting up. I was fishing the small lakes so tested the pegs along the bank that joins both lakes (south bank). It had such an even depth across all of the pags that I tested. It was 5.6 foot deep out to about 35m where it shallowed up to 3 feet. I decided to fish the first (corner) peg because it had some lillies. I therefore fished 2 rods, one at the drop off from 3 to 5.6 feet (35m out) and the other at 33m just on the corner of a lillie patch.
I was getting the occasional very light tap on both rods. I tried hitting them but am convinced it was small fish.
I threw in a few pieces of corn close to the margin amonst some lillies. I saw one grain disappear and a few other being batted about. When I next retrieved the feeder, I dropped it (freeline style) into the lillies and it went straight away and was a Rudd of about 6 oz. Seeing as the feeders weren't producing, I got out my whip to try for a hopefully sizeable Rudd. Alas, all I cought were tiny Roach and Rudd.
I only had 1 proper bite on the feeder and missed it. Therefore I decided to pack up mid afternoon so that I could fish the canal confluence near home into darkness to see if big Bream or Tench go on the feed.
Day 5 Venue 2: Canal Confluence
When I returned home (before heading to the canal), I met the son of the owner of the place where I am staying. I estimate he is about 13 years old. He had afew bits of fishing gear and wanted to come out with me so I caid he could meet me at the confuence when he had finished his family BBQ.
I ended up with 7 Bream for 15lb so nothing sizeable. Unfortunately he did not catch in the hour that he stayed with me. I fished into dark and finished about 10:30 as nothing was happening.
Interestingly, I had my licence (VISpas) checked but a police officer. He was very courteous. I wish the same happened in the UK.
Day 6: Ommen Lake
Location

I had a bit of a late start today as a result of fishing until late last night. After some prep and a bit of shopping, I headed off for Ommen and realised that I passed Square Lake on my way. My intention was to bait that after I finish at Ommen (and have more ribs at the Road Runner restaurant). I decided to take a look at square lake - primarily to see the water clarity so that I could mix the correct colour of ground bait for pre-baiting. It wa crystal clear so I dark mix was required.
It was about 2pm by the time I was fishing at Ommen. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much as it was another hot and sunny day. It was quite shallow which also bode well with the bright sun. I had nothing on the feeder and just a few small fish the the waggler.
I packed up at 7pm and headed for Ribs at Road Runner before pre-baiting Square lake.
